Week of Sept. 9-13

posted Sep 5, 2013, 5:14 PM by Michael Reilly

A few "housecleaning" tasks to start:  many people have not sent me an AKS spreadsheet according to the directions on the Technology page.

In addition, I would like everyone to send me a link to their portfolio.  The grading rubric for that portfolio (just a beginning, to hold your stuff for the year), is here.  Email it with the email subject "CDAT16 Portfolio".  PLEASE do this correctly so it is easy for me to find.

As for this week:

- All Chemistry students should have a team plan for the week, reviewed Monday.

- Wednesday I should see an Animation example from each individual, demonstrating all of the Animation topics in the Certification test.  We will decide on the next section then.

We need to add some order to what this group is doing.  Let's get started by refocusing on the Certification topics: here's the list

Let's start this week with the first section, Animation.

This is a short week.  Here's the goal:  understand the entire Animation section by the end of next week.  You will be asked to demonstrate knowledge of every item by Wednesday, 9/11/13.

Week of Aug. 19 - 23

Last week we got familiar with the labs, software, and reviewed some basics.  This week we get to work.

As we all agreed last week, this will be an aggressive study group toward certification.  The topic of this week is "Lighting".  A great starting point are the Lighting tutorials on Page 2 of the 3DS Max Digital Study Packet.  Click here for that starting point.

You should know all of the types of light in general, and play with all of the options.  You do NOT have to memorize everything, just know where it is, and it generally does.

I'd like to see a demo from EACH person or PAIR if you are working with a partner, that thoroughly demonstrates lighting.
