  1. 1.
the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.
  2. 2.
the political movement that seeks to protect the environment, especially from pollution.

For your first project, you are going to get real. There are so many ecological issues that a "maker" spirit can tackle.

Here's the challenge:

Your goal is to come up with a concept that will address an ecological issue. We're not raising awareness; we're actually solving problems-- and making money! Your final project must be a presentation of a concept just like you would find on Kickstarter.com: a video and live presentation that make the case for the need you are addressing and the solution concept you are proposing.

Need more realistic? How about real investors, which we have done before in CDAT, to back your idea to the next level? You don't need to know every detail of your solution, but you have to make a strong argument that it has potential, and you could have a business partner on top of great grades!

You must demonstrate mastery of one core biology or chemistry AKS and tech/engineering AKS. You will also receive writing and presentation grades in language arts.

It's pretty easy to find issues, actually:

Here are the requirements:
  • A concept that addresses an ecological issue
  • A 60 second promotional video
  • A pitch deck to be used in a live presentation (What is a pitch deck?)
